Sheep Milk & Manuka Honey

Our two key ingredients

Sheep Milk

There are over 26 million sheep in New Zealand and they have been part of New Zealand’s rich history since the 1840s. Since their arrival, sheep have helped to sustain us with meat, wool and employment while making us Kiwis the butt of many a sheep joke when abroad, but did you know how nutritious and beneficial the milk of these adaptable gentle animals is?

From the inside out, drinking sheep’s milk can help lower cholesterol and blood pressure. It is full of vitamins A, E and several B vitamins while amino acids and proteins make it easy to digest, helping to improve gut health.

From the outside in, sheep milk has been used as a beauty aid for thousands of years. Deeply nourishing for dry and sensitive skin, the anti-microbial and anti-inflammatory properties found in sheep milk protein helps reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles while improving a variety of skin problems including redness, acne, wrinkles and enlarged pores.

The Egyptians bathed in it, soaking up the extra fats and high concentration of vitamins and minerals, especially vitamin E, which act as antioxidants preserving and improving the appearance of the skin. While all nine of the essential amino acids, riboflavin, and folic acid leaves skin soft, glowing, balanced, and revitalised.

Like a complete skin care treatment, the lactic acid found in this luxurious milk acts as a natural and gentle exfoliate that is exceptionally soothing and comforting to those with dry and sensitive skin.

Active 16+ Manuka Honey

The waggle dance of the bee is performed to tell other honey making members of the hive how to find nectar. The bee dances her remarkable dance to show the distance and path in relation to the sun to pollinating flowers. A beautiful intuitive dance of nature.

Now team that with the magic of the flowering manuka tree.  A hardy New Zealand native that has cleverly adapted to tolerate growing in all kinds of landscapes and conditions. Only good things can come from this combination of strength, artistry and innovation. From this comes Manuka Honey.

Nature has a peculiar way of ensuring only the best comes from the best. Manuka honey is harvested at specific times and with care, to protect the special antibacterial properties that come from hydrogen peroxide found within the honey.

Manuka honey is a natural humectant attracting water to help moisturise and nourish the skin while its micro-exfoliating and anti-inflammatory effects can decrease local inflammation. Perfect for dry sensitive skin in need of care.

What is truly miraculous about manuka honey is its anti-bacterial properties of MGO.  Let’s get back to the bees.  Methylglyoxal (MGO) is a chemical compound that occurs once the nectar is processed back in the hive, creating the antibacterial component in manuka honey.  MGO is responsible for the unique antibacterial activity of Non-Peroxide Activity (NPA).  A naturally derived chemical combination, not formulated in a lab, but, instead, cleverly crafted by nature.

And while the bees will just intuitively know about this magic, us humans, in all our scientific wisdom, have assigned a rating system. A higher UMF (Unique Manuka Factor) or MGO rating means a better honey, so look out for the Active 16+.
